For Immediate Release:
Straight from a sold-out Broadway run
performing with Liza Minnelli now …
“Swell” Debut Album
from Cortés
Alexander CD Releases
March 16th
Cortés
Alexander has to be
one of busiest and talented men in show business—having just finished a
sold-out Broadway run performing with Liza Minnelli in “Liza’s At
The Palace…!”, he also just completed recording his first solo album,
Swell, releasing on March 16th. Produced by McKay Garner
(Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Bublé),
“Swell” combines
Cortés’
smooth vocals with a medley of pop, jazz, and R&B flavor. A handsome and
seasoned performer, he has toured the world and
sung with music legends including Sheryl Crow, Elton John,
and Luciano Pavarotti. Notable appearances include PBS’ Great
Performances honoring Stephen Sondheim at Carnegie Hall, as well as
guest appearances with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Pacific
Symphony Orchestra.
“Swell”
is an eclectic melange of originals and covers with an emphasis on lush
vocal harmonies & arrangements. Cortés found his producer, McKay Garner,
through a guitar-playing pal, Kevin Holmes and two years and many drum
loops later, “Swell” was born. This solo debut album brings about a unique
collection of songs that reflects the influences of Prince, Luther
Vandross, and Keith Urban, with just that right touch of
lounge.
About the album,
Cortés has said,“R&B, jazz, pop or country…if it feels good and sounds
good, do it!
I can’t
imagine not writing music and singing. It’s like breathing to me, and
along the way, if I can tell a good story or sing a track that makes
people want to move, it’s all I can ask.”
Cortés Alexander
has been singing and performing since the age of 13, first with a pop/jazz
vocal group he formed called “The Tonics” then with his second vocal group
the “Cortés
Alexander Trio.” He is a veteran of more than
100 national commercials, voiceovers, and print campaigns and can be heard
on Liza Minnelli’s latest CD, “Liza’s At The Palace…”
“Swell” is
