For Immediate Release: (Falls Village, CT) Come join the musical fun and celebrate the 4th of July weekend at America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain, as its 82nd summer season continues with an exciting weekend of Jazz and Chamber music featuring the ever popular Swingtime Big Band on Saturday, July 2nd (6:30PM) and the internationally acclaimed St. Petersburg String Quartet Sunday, July 3rd (3PM). The July 4th weekend concerts are just a sampling of the 28 chamber, jazz and country groups that will grace Music Mountain’s concert stage and perform weekend concerts in Falls Village thru September 4th. Dust off your dancing shoes for audience favorite, Swingtime Big Band which will present an old fashion Jukebox Saturday Night - a program of the greatest hits and hidden gems of the Big Band years on July 2nd. Swingtime Big Band is a 20-piece orchestra dedicated to the performance of America’s greatest popular standards of the swing era. Give the Music Mountain dance floor a Lindy hop or sit back and be thrilled by the authentic recreations of swing music that was first brought to life by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, and Tommy Dorsey. Female vocalist Bobbie Ruth recreates the “gal-vocal” style of such legendary singers as Peggy Lee, Eydie Gorme, and Anita O’Day, while male vocalist Jerry Costanzo channels the crooners of the past – Louis Prima, Bobby Darin, and Dean Martin. Back by popular demand, The St. Petersburg String Quartet returns for a second weekend at Music Mountain with Victoria Schwartzman, piano. The Sunday afternoon July 3rd program will feature Brahms: Viola Sonata in F Minor, Opus 120 #1, with the St. Petersburg’s wonderful violist, Boris Vayner and Victoria Schwartzman, piano; Mozart: String Quartet in C Major, K. 465 “Dissonant”; and the Fauré: Piano Quartet in C Minor, Opus 15, with Victoria Schwartzman, piano, written by Faure as he tried to get over the end of his engagement to his great love. Considered by many to be one of the world's most esteemed chamber ensembles, the St. Petersburg String Quartet was founded in 1985 and has steadily risen to fame performing all over the world, including Spain, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Israel and the U.K. Their US appearances have included concerts at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Located in Falls Village, Connecticut, Music Mountain is located on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring music lovers to Gordon Hall with ample & free parking. Beer and wine are available and, as is the Music Mountain custom, audience members are invited to picnic before the concerts on the scenic grounds.
