Guided since 2000 by the
strong artistic vision of its founding members and with the support of its
dedicated Board of Directors, Palm Beach Dramaworks is
a professional not-for-profit theatre company that engages
and entertains audiences with provocative and timeless productions that
personally impact each individual.
As the only professional
resident theatre company in West Palm Beach, Dramaworks is playing a vitally
important role in the cultural redevelopment of the downtown area. The
company has been faithful to its pledge to maintain superior production
standards, while offering a competitive and affordable ticket price to assure
wide community attendance.
The mission of the company
encompasses cultivating an interest, respect, and appreciation for the work of
established playwrights, and encourages aspiring theatre professionals through
their educational programming such as The New Play Development Series and
their Master Playwrights Series. Dramaworks is also committed to providing a home for Florida's
professional artists and technicians. In addition, they cultivate
participation by community youth through the Technical Apprenticeship Program
for college students, the Student Internship Program for high school seniors
and a discounted youth ticket price.
Dramaworks is the proud
recipient of 8 Carbonell Awards, 6 Curtain-Up Awards, 8 New Times "Best
of" Awards and City Link Magazine's "Best
Theatre of 2004." As stated by Ron Mangravite of New Times, "In
it's short history, the Palm Beach
Dramaworks has earned a solid reputation as thinking person's
theatre, continually challenging its growing audience with substantive scripts
and solid productions, such efforts
can be, but should not be, overlooked."
